Newswise — After a decade of success in the work-family arena, the Sloan Work and Family Research Network at Boston College received an additional $1.4 million grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. Created in 1997, the Network is the leading web destination for free credible, current information on work-family issues. The Network is a highly valued resource in the work-family community and has developed an extensive cadre of resources representing 3.16 gigabytes of content equal to just over 3 pickup trucks filled with books.

"Our biggest accomplishment is not simply the collection of high quality, credible information but the way in which we have successfully packaged the research into formats that can inform academia, state policy and workplace practices." says Judi C. Casey, Principal Investigator and Director of the Network. "Given the quality resources that now exist, it is critical to grow and expand our user groups."

The Sloan Work and Family Research Network serves a global community of individuals from over 100 countries interested in work and family research by providing resources, building knowledge, and sharing information. The site has over 8600 literature citations, a statistics data base, fact sheets, and Encyclopedia, Glossary and other resources.

"We want to expand our reach to the state policy audience by developing reciprocal relationships with policy/advocacy associations and encouraging them to distribute information about the Network's resources to their constituents. In particular, they will find the Bills & Statutes Database and the Policy Leadership Series to be useful in their work," says Casey.

Thanks to the generous support of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, all resources are provided free of charge at http://wfnetwork.bc.edu.
