Newswise — LOS ANGELES – Keck Medicine of USC has named Smitha Ravipudi, MPH, CEO of USC Care Medical Group, the faculty practice plan composed of Keck Medicine physicians practicing at hospital and ambulatory locations. Previously, Ravipudi served as chief operating officer for the medical group, which has experienced continual growth and expansion the past several years and opened seven new ambulatory locations in the last year.

In her role as CEO, Ravipudi serves as general manager of the medical group and works collaboratively with the USC Care leadership team — chief medical officer Vivian Mo, MD, and president, David Peng, MD, MPH — to adopt the highest clinical standards and implement practices that enhance the patient experience throughout Keck Medicine’s ambulatory network.

“Smitha is an experienced health care leader and her talent and vision will help lead USC Care into its next phase of growth,” says Rodney B. Hanners, chief operating officer for Keck Medicine and CEO of Keck Medical Center of USC. “Through USC Care, we offer nationally ranked, specialized medicine not only at our Health Sciences Campus, but to dozens of communities throughout Southern California.”

In her previous role, Ravipudi and her team successfully opened the seven-story, 116,000-square-foot Norris Healthcare Center adjacent to Keck Hospital of USC in 2018, and several specialty practices throughout Southern California including the Arcadia Multispecialty Center, Keck Medicine of USC’s largest outpatient satellite facility.

“My priority as CEO for USC Care is to bring a differential focus on our clinical practice efforts toward consumer-friendly innovations, increased collaborative care and greater accessibility,” Ravipudi explains. “It is imperative that we treat our patients with world-class medicine that is both convenient and reliable. It is what our patients both need and expect.”

Prior to joining Keck Medicine of USC in 2016, Ravipudi was at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles overseeing outpatient clinics, community ambulatory care centers, pre-service and access operations, patient relations and service excellence.

Ravipudi holds a master’s degree in public health from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science in human communication sciences from Northwestern University.
