Newswise — The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) is meeting in New Orleans October 17-22, and as part of the celebration, over 325 exhibitors are on hand to leverage the opportunity to speak to their customers, anesthesia providers, directly. At $3 million in exhibitor sales this year, resulting in over 80,000 square feet of exhibit space sold, ASA hit an all-time record this year, and recognized a 20 percent increase in sales over last year.

“We are grateful to our exhibitors who valued the importance of speaking to our membership at the meeting,” said John Thorner, Executive Vice President of the ASA. “This $3 million milestone further demonstrates that our exhibitors recognized the role the anesthesiologist plays on a patient’s overall medical treatment team. ASA believes the anesthesiologist’s role will continue to increase in the coming years.”

The Exhibitors at the 2009 ASA Annual Meeting span the breadth and depth of the specialty. The practice of anesthesiologists is broad and transcends the operating room. Anesthesiologists also help patients with chronic diseases live better lives through pain management treatments, and anesthesiologists’ work in critical care units saves countless lives.

Exhibitors who wish to book space for next year can do so during the 2009 Annual Meeting. Visit the exhibit sales office on site at the meeting for rates and information, or contact the ASA Meetings Department at [email protected].
