1. PROFESSORS' 'TOY STORY' SAVES COMPANIES MONEY
Two professors from Purdue's manufacturing management program have developed a teaching tool from a child's plastic toy that is helping manufacturers train employees and save money. The plastic toy simulates the manufacturing process and is used in workshops for quality and productivity improvement. The
training program has been so successful, it's expanding. Later this month, the
Purdue team will train representatives from manufacturing operations in Latin

2. PROFESSOR GIVES CASINOS A TOOL AGAINST COMPULSIVE GAMBLING
A Purdue professor is helping gaming establishments deal with compulsive
gambling, which he calls ''the Achilles' heel of the gaming industry,'' says
Carl G. Braunlich, an expert on casinos. He helped create the Responsible
Gaming Resource Guide, a comprehensive compilation of responsible gaming
ideas, policies and programs. Braunlich says up to 6 percent of U.S. residents
