Newswise — Author John Voelcker's annual update focuses on production cars now in showrooms or soon to be available, but singles out two concept cars for special attention. The cars on this year's list are: the 2005 Acura RL, with its clever all-wheel-drive system; the 2005 Honda Accord hybrid, which was honored for being indistinguishable from a conventional Accord; the 2005 LandRover Discovery/LR3, for its electronically-controlled all-terrain capabilities; the 2005 Mercedes-Benz E320 CDI, for its efficient and relatively clean diesel engine; the Michelin "Concept" vehicle, with its extremely innovative wheelmotors; the 2007 Saturn Vue hybrid, for a belt-alternator starter system that points the way for future vehicles; the 2006 Infiniti M Series, for a sophisticated lane-keeping option; the Toyota Vitz CVT4, with a lithium-ion battery; the 2005 Venturi Fetish, which is the world's first production electric supercar; and the ELIICA concept vehicle, which has eight wheels and goes from 0 to 60 miles per hour in less than four seconds.
