Newswise — Vanderbilt University Medical Center is featured in three pilot episodes of a new series titled Emergency Level 1 on TLC.
The first episode aired Sunday, Dec. 27, and will be rebroadcast on Thursday, Dec. 31 at 5 p.m. CDT. This episode, titled Moms in Danger, features Maggie Binion and Carrie Acevedo, both from Westmoreland, Tennessee, who were involved in a Sumner County automobile accident.
Both accident victims are pregnant. Doctors and nurses work to ensure the mothers and their babies remain okay. Binion was flown to Vanderbilt by LifeFlight and Acevedo was brought by Sumner County EMS via ground ambulance. Vanderbilt Drs. Jeremy Brywczynski, Benjamin Heavrin, Louise Mawn, Rick Miller, Kyla Terhune and Wesley Thayer are also featured in this episode.
The second episode, titled Gunshots in Nashville, is scheduled to air on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at 7 p.m. and again at 10 p.m. CDT.
This episode features Robert Mitchell, an 82-year-old man from Belton, Kentucky who was injured in a horse and buggy accident. Vanderbilt Drs. Alli Bollinger, Jeremy Brywczynski, Benjamin Heavrin, Alex Jahangir and Kyla Terhune are also featured.
All of the three pilot episodes of Emergency Level 1, were filmed at VUMC during September and early October. Vanderbilt’s Emergency Medicine and Trauma physicians and nurses are followed as they go about typical day to day responsibilities caring for patients.
