Newswise — The American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology is pleased to announce that TomoTherapy Inc., Varian Medical Systems, Inc., and Standard Imaging have been elected to serve three-year terms on ASTRO's Corporate Advisory Council. These companies were elected by ASTRO's corporate membership and approved by the Society's Board of Directors. "ASTRO truly values the input from our industry partners," said Mary Austin-Seymour, M.D., Chair of ASTRO's Corporate Relations Committee and a radiation oncologist at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle. "They provide us with resources to implement programs and educational opportunities that allow us to help our doctors better serve their patients."

The Corporate Advisory Council is a representative group of ASTRO's nearly 100 corporate members, with a proportional mix of both large and small companies. The goal of the council is to focus on issues of mutual concern to all corporate members and to increase awareness of radiation therapy and advance the science and practice of radiation therapy in the treatment of cancer.
