Newswise — WASHINGTON – C. Edward Brown, chief executive officer of The Iowa Clinic, and Nicholas Wolter, M.D., chief executive officer of the Billings Clinic, today were inducted into the American Medical Group Association (AMGA) Public Policy Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame was established in 2015 to honor those medical group leaders who have made outstanding contributions to the development of public policy that supports multispecialty medical groups, integrated delivery systems, and their patients.

“I could not be happier that AMGA is inducting Ed Brown and Nick Wolter as its first class into our Hall of Fame,” said Donald W. Fisher, Ph.D., CAE, president and chief executive officer of AMGA. “They have provided exemplary leadership in advocating for our model of care before Congress and the federal government. Their work has resulted in policies that have improved care and reduced costs.” Mr. Brown has served as CEO of the Iowa Clinic for 21 years. The Iowa Clinic is the largest physician-owned multispecialty medical group in Central Iowa, with nearly 200 physicians and healthcare providers practicing in 40 specialties.

Dr. Wolter has led the Billings Clinic since 1997, and since that time, it has become the largest healthcare organization in Montana, with more than 3,700 employees, including 350 physicians and 400 inpatient nurses.

“Both Ed and Nick exemplify the best in medical group leadership,” Fisher stated. “They have successfully led their clinics in a rapidly changing healthcare environment while also understanding the need to educate Congress on the benefits of caring for patients in multispecialty medical groups. This honor recognizes their contributions.”
