Newswise — The world's first film festival dedicated to Chinese underground films will be held at the University of California, San Diego's Price Center Theater, October 8-10. The three-day event will feature thirteen films (with English subtitles) and four lectures delivered by distinguished film directors and scholars. The films featured have never been publicly distributed or exhibited in China and thus provide a unique glimpse into the true nature of contemporary Chinese life.

Sponsors for this event include The UCSD Libraries, UCSD Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies (IR/PS), UCSD Chinese Studies Program (CSP), Hsiu Endowment, 99 Ranch Market, and UCSD Council on East Asian Studies (CEAS).

These films are not rated. Discretion is advised, as some films are not appropriate for all viewers. Admission to the festival is free of charge, and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
