Newswise — The next 2-3 months are prime allergy season. Trees in the Southeast are pollinating now, and grasses will begin later in spring. UAB allergist Dr. James Bonner says the only way to avoid pollen is to remain indoors with your windows closed. Air conditioning is a very effective filter for pollen. But since hiding indoors isn't an option for most of us, Bonner says a trip to an allergist can pinpoint the specific cause of the allergy and target prescription medication to help control it. Prescription medication is both more effective and more tolerable than many over-the-counter remedies.
