Newswise — In New York State there are 2.5 million smokers and most these smokers want to quit their deadly addiction. It is estimated that 75% of smokers say they want to quit and nearly 60% of current smokers said they tried to quit at least once during the last year.

The Great American Smokeout is an opportunity for smokers to quit for one day in hopes that they quit for good.

The Manhattan Tobacco Cessation Program at New York University School of Medicine has scheduled an information table in honor of the Great American Smokeout on Thursday, November 17, 2011. From 11:30 am to 2:30 pm, Manhattan Tobacco Cessation Program will hold an information table at NYU’s Bobst Library on 70 Washington Square South. Smoking cessation specialists will be providing information and referrals to quit smoking programs, as well as raffling off a free turkey.
