Newswise — WASHINGTON, D.C., February 16, 2016 -- Journalists are invited this month to a major international meeting devoted to biophysics, a field that seeks to uncover fundamental new understanding of the molecular world and find new treatments and tools for fields across medicine and materials science.
The 60th Annual Meeting of the Biophysical Society convenes from Feb. 27- March 2, 2016 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Free press registration information can be found below.
This is the largest gathering of the year devoted to biophysics, and many of the scientists traveling to the meeting will be unveiling new, unpublished research. Much of this work stands at the forefront of human knowledge and will reveal new understanding of the hidden molecular world of life that's too tiny to see even under a microscope -- understanding that will help to make our own macroscopic world a better place.
Free registration is offered for any professional journalist, freelance science writer or public information officer and can be obtained by contacting Ellen Weiss at <[email protected]> or Jason Bardi at 240-535-4954.

ABOUT THE MEETING
Each year, the Biophysical Society Annual Meeting brings together more than 6,500 researchers working in the multidisciplinary fields representing biophysics. With more than 3,600 poster presentations, over 200 exhibits, and more than 20 symposia, the BPS Annual Meeting is the largest meeting of biophysicists in the world. Despite its size, the meeting retains its small-meeting flavor through its subgroup symposia, platform sessions, social activities and committee programs. The 60th Annual Meeting will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
