Philadelphia, PA, April 30, 2001 -- Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW) has launched comprehensive new content and features at LWWoncology.com, (www.LWWoncology.com) its leading Internet community for oncology professionals.
LWWoncology.com has featured the full text of the world-renowned Cancer: Principles & Practice of Oncology and its popular update series since its launch in December 2000. New content now available includes the full texts of:
* Diseases of the Breast, 2nd edition
* The American Joint Committee on Cancer's Cancer Staging Manual, 5th edition* The Manual of Clinical Oncology, 4th edition.
Additional content to be added later in 2001 includes The Cancer Chemotherapy Source Book, 3rd edition and Principles & Practice of the Biologic Therapy of Cancer, 3rd edition.

New site features include a Bookmark Organizer that lets users create a custom, online "virtual textbook" with content of their choice selected from the four major texts available. Once selected, users can revisit their customized textbook, and add or delete content at their discretion.

The site is enhanced by editorially derived meta data, a sophisticated technology that provides highly focused search results and immediate access to relevant information. Unlike large, undifferentiated reference databases, LWWoncology.com is ideal for use in both clinical and research environments.
LWW recently signed institutional subscription agreements with Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia and Loyola University Health Sciences Library, Chicago, providing access to LWWoncology.com for professionals at these institutions. The site also has trial installations at Hong Kong Medical University and National Taiwan University Hospital, and more than 1,300 individual registered users.
