Drug-resistant fungal disease expert available to comment on latest CDC findings

Newswise — Someone dies from complications of antimicrobial resistance every 15 minutes. And while there are overall fewer deaths, Candida auris, a fungal infection, has caught the attention of infectious disease experts at the CDC.
Luis Ostrosky, MD, professor of medicine and epidemiology at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth, is a world-renowned expert in the field of infectious diseases and has done extensive research on fungal infections including Candida auris. He is available to comment on the CDC’s latest report.
Ostrosky’s research and clinical background includes fungal infections, transplant infectious diseases, hospital epidemiology, antimicrobial stewardship, and healthcare quality.
