Florida State University physics Professor Laura Reina: (850) 345-7247 (cell), [email protected]

A high-energy physics theorist, Reina uses state-of-the-art theoretical predictions to perform calculations of the production of Higgs particles at the Large Hadron Collider. These calculations are able to estimate the number and kind of events that experiments should see if a particle such as the Higgs boson exists. Reina, a fellow of the American Physical Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, will be able to address the importance of the announcement to our understanding of particle interactions and how they can ultimately address cosmological questions.
