Newswise — Members of the media are invited to participate in an exciting and timely cross-national and interdisciplinary conversation on grief and loss: theory, research, and practice. In this post 9/11 world where shooting rampages, bombs going off in airports, wars, natural disasters, and chronic illness are common occurrences, we have a lot to mourn.

CIHR-funded researcher and psychologist Dr. Leeat Granek and other grief experts wish to open the dialogue on loss and de-pathologize grief, which is proposed to be added to the 2013 Diagnostic and Statistics Manual of Mental Disorders set as Complicated or Pathological Grief.

Who: - Grief as a Mental Disorder, Leeat Granek, PhD

- Grief and Resilience, Dr. George Bonanno

- Grief and Community, Dr. Tina Chery

- Psychoanalysis and Mourning, Dr. Elliot Jurist

- 9/11 Panel: Drs. Samuel Heilman, April Naturale, Alisha Betten, Manny Shapiro and Robin Stern.
