Most cancer genomes show chromosome copy number changes known as aneuploidies.

In a study, researchers including Yale School of Medicine's Jason Sheltzer, PhD, find some human cancers depend on these aneuploidies for growth. By editing them out of cancer genomes, scientists were able to slow tumor growth.

Researchers say editing of cancer genomes may lead to the development of new and more effective treatments.
