Newswise — La Jolla, Calif., November 15, 2016 – Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute (SBP) is pleased to announce that Lee Blumenfeld, M.D., has been named to the newly created position of Vice President of Business Development.

In his new role, Blumenfeld will be responsible for leading SBP’s business development strategy and coordinating business development matrix team activities.

Most recently, Blumenfeld served as Vice President of Business Development at Baxalta, Inc., a spinoff of Baxter Healthcare Corporation. He held the same role at Baxter Healthcare Corporation from 2002 to 2015. Prior to Baxter he worked at Conceptus Inc., a medical device company in the gynecology field.

Blumenfeld received his B.A. in Human Biology from Stanford University, his Master of Business Administration from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois School of Medicine.
