Jersey Shore University Medical Center recently received a $300,000 gift from the trust of the late Howard Corlies (1883-1958), of Spring Lake, New Jersey, in support of the hospital. The gift honors the memory of Mr. Corlies, a prominent Monmouth County resident who faithfully served the hospital and its mission to provide the best health care experience for the Jersey Shore community.

On September 5, Jersey Shore University Medical Center’s Electrophysiology team implanted the first Nanostim leadless pacemaker in New Jersey. The leadless pacemaker is a new, less-invasive approach than traditional pacemaker procedures that require more extensive surgery. The device, used to treat patients with an abnormally slow heart rate, took place as part of the Leadless II pivotal trial, a prospective, non-randomized, multi-center, international clinical study designed to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the leadless pacemaker.

Marianna Williams, a bright 18 year old from Neptune who dreams of a career in finance, had an extraordinary couple of weeks by celebrating two teenage milestones while recuperating from a serious illness.
