Newswise — Lippincott Williams & Wilkins announced today that it has reached an agreement with the American Heart Association (AHA) to continue as publisher of the AHA's prestigious roster of scientific journals, including the flagship weekly journal Circulation: Journal of the American Heart Association. Lippincott Williams & Wilkins is a part of Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading provider of information and business intelligence for students, professionals, and institutions in medicine, nursing, allied health, pharmacy and the pharmaceutical industry.

Under the agreement, LWW will continue its role as publisher of the AHA's journals through 2015. "We're pleased and proud to extend our publishing relationship with AHA and its prestigious journal line," said Karen Abramson, President and CEO of the Medical Research business unit of Wolters Kluwer Health. "Together with the AHA, we look forward to keeping these indispensable publications at the forefront of cardiology throughout the coming decade."

Agreement Covers Eleven AHA Journals

The new contract extends a relationship that has been in place since 1998, when LWW assumed publication of Circulation along with Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology, Circulation Research, Hypertension, and Stroke.

In 2008, LWW and AHA completed an unprecedented expansion of the AHA publishing program with the successful launch of six new subspecialty journals in the Circulation portfolio: Circulation: Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology; Circulation: Cardiovascular Genetics; Circulation: Cardiovascular Imaging; Circulation: Cardiovascular Interventions; Circulation: Cardiovascular Outcomes and Quality; and Circulation: Heart Failure. "We're honored to have played a role in publishing these essential journals, through a period of such rapid progress and expansion," added Abramson. "Six new publications with the AHA in one year is unprecedented in our industry, and the AHA and LWW should take great pride in all that we've accomplished together."
