Risk calculator for cholesterol

Last week, the United States’s leading heart organization released a new set of guidelines for lowering cholesterol, along with an online calculator meant to help doctors assess risks and treatment options. But, the calculator appears to greatly overestimate risk and could lead to millions of people being prescribed cholesterol lowering medications. Sylvia Santosa, assistant professor in the Department of Exercise Science, can share her expertise on why this calculator can pose major problems.
