Newswise — Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW), a leading international publisher of professional health information, today announced that a previously publicly undocumented eyewitness account from Trauma Room One of Parkland Memorial Hospital, following the shooting of President John. F. Kennedy, will appear in the November issue of Neurosurgery. Robert Grossman, M.D., one of two attending neurosurgeons who examined President Kennedy, is the co-author of three articles that provide previously unreleased information regarding the circumstances surrounding the president's assassination.
This series of articles to appear in Neurosurgery presents the first public analysis by a neurosurgeon of President Kennedy's wounds. Dr. Grossman's observations indicate that:- Only two bullets struck President Kennedy. The first bullet entered his upper back above the shoulder blade and exited from the front of his neck. The second bullet struck the right side of the back of his skull, near the midline, and fragmented, causing a blast-out of the right side of the skull above the ear.- The locations of the wounds are most compatible with their having been fired from the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository, most likely by a single gunman.
"The unfulfilled life and the tragic assassination of President Kennedy continue to trouble our nation," said Dr. Grossman. "There has been much uncertainty and misinformation about the injuries that the President sustained. The opportunity to contribute to the series of articles in Neurosurgery will, I hope, provide answers to some of the vexing questions about the assassination. An account of the wounds cannot, in itself, identify the assassin, but my analysis supports the Warren Commission's findings that there was one gunman, who was located in the sixth-floor of the Texas School Book Depository building."
Dr. Grossman was one of two neurosurgeons present in Trauma Room One when President Kennedy was wheeled in on a stretcher on November 22nd, 1963, and he closely examined the President's wounds. While many analyses of the Kennedy assassination have been conducted, this is the first analysis of the events from a neurosurgeon's perspective. When putting together its report, the Warren Commission did not solicit this account.

The third article will follow the President's limousine as it traversed Dealey Plaza and provide a digitally formatted copy of Abraham Zapruder's movie of the shooting, and a ballistics analysis of the bullet trajectories.
