Newswise — Chicago, IL (June 15, 2016): Join experts in the field of pharmacy services management as they share their expertise and practical solutions to the everyday challenges of providing top-of-the-line clinical care in a fiscally responsible manner at the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA) 4th Annual HOPA Oncology Pharmacy Practice Management Program at the Chicago Marriott O’Hare on September 23-24, 2016. As newer, more expensive cancer treatments are made available to patients, the balancing act becomes increasingly difficult. This program will offer perspectives from leaders who have achieved this balance in settings large and small.

This robust program will delve into several areas of pharmacy services. Program highlights include:

• USP <800> Compliance • Training/Competency • ASCO Pharmacy Standards • Inpatient to Outpatient Chemotherapy Regimens • Investigational Drug Services Roundtable • Value-Based Payments

New this year, HOPA will feature a special keynote lecture, The Underbelly of Overpricing, delivered by Dr. Peter Bach. Dr. Bach, director of Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Center for Health Policy and Outcome, is a physician, epidemiologist, researcher, and recognized healthcare policy expert whose recent work focuses on the high cost of prescription drugs and pricing structures.

This program is intended for oncology pharmacists, pharmacy managers, pharmacy directors, oncology residents, administrative residents, oncology business managers, and oncology informatics pharmacists.

A preconference workshop is also planned on Oncology Integration and Implementation into Electronic Medical Records. Available for an additional fee, this event will feature solutions from experts who have successfully integrated EPIC EMR (electronic medical records) into their facilities.

Successful completion of this program will provide up to 11 contact hours of ACPE credit, with an additional 3.5 hours of credit available upon the completion of the optional preconference workshop.
