Newswise — ISHIB (the International Society on Hypertension in Blacks) invites health reporters to attend ISHIB2005 to learn about recent studies, new guidelines, and treatment approaches to eliminate heart disease disparities. The sessions will provide specific information for reporting on health and healthcare issues important ethnic populations. Since cardiovascular disease remains the number one cause of death among all US populations and journalists have been cited as key gatekeepers in shaping the way Americans think about their health, ISHIB encourages reporters to attend this conference.

Diabetes, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular diseases affect ethnic populations more frequently and with greater severity than as experienced by the general population. ISHIB2005, a health conference drawing international medical researchers, will explore solutions to address these disparities.
