Newswise — Maureen Sintich has been named vice president for Operations, Chief Nursing Officer for Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. The appointment is effective Aug. 1.
Sintich has been serving as the interim vice president of Brenner Children's Hospital since 2008 and will also continue in that capacity until the search for a new administrative leader is complete.
"Maureen has extensive experience and background in management and nursing leadership," said Donny Lambeth, president of North Carolina Baptist Hospital. "She has extensive experience in daily operations, including key leadership roles in oncology, women's health, pediatrics and behavioral health. She brings a lot of talents and experience to the table and we are fortunate to have her in this key role."
Sintich has been with the Medical Center for nine-and-a-half years, serving in a variety of leadership roles. She started at the Medical Center as an administrator in Women's Health. She has also held director positions in oncology and behavioral health. Sintich began her career as a staff nurse in the neonatal intensive care unit at St. Margaret Hospital in Hammond, Ind., and she is also a certified nurse practitioner.
"I am very excited and humbled to have been chosen for this position," she said. "The nurses at the Medical Center are dedicated, innovative and passionate about taking care of their patients, and I am very proud to be the chief nurse of this compassionate team."
Sintich is replacing A. Patricia Johnson who announced her retirement in July after 15 years with the Medical Center. Lambeth praised Johnson for her dedication to "high standards and excellence in patient care."
