Newswise — LOS ANGELES – Keck Medicine of USC announces the acquisition of Los Angeles Cardiology Associates, a cardiovascular care group with eight locations across the Los Angeles region. This acquisition, effective Feb. 24, 2019, expands the cardiovascular care provided by Keck Medicine of USC and adds 11 physicians to the institution’s roster of faculty cardiologists.

Physicians joining from Los Angeles Cardiology Associates primarily focus on three major subspecialty areas of cardiology: interventional cardiology, electrophysiology and non-invasive cardiology.

“These physicians are among Los Angeles’ best heart specialists and complement the tertiary and quaternary care at our academic medical center,” says Tom Jackiewicz, CEO of Keck Medicine of USC. “We are pleased to offer their patients access to the highly specialized care, clinical trials and innovative treatments that a university-based health system offers.”

Currently, Keck Medicine surgeons perform the most cardiac procedures across Southern California and its cardiology program was ranked in 2018 among the top 50 in the country for cardiology, according to U.S. News & World Report.

“It is indeed a rare opportunity to acquire such a top-quality group of talented and experienced cardiologists to our clinical faculty,” says Ray Matthews, MD, chief of cardiovascular medicine at Keck Medicine of USC. “We at Keck Medicine of USC are pleased to welcome these fine physicians to the Trojan Family.”
