Newswise — Today's FDA guidelines to reduce sodium in the US food supply was informed by Monell research conducted by Gary Beauchamp, PhD, who showed that people will come to like lower levels of salt in their food when it is reduced gradually over a period of time. Dr. Beauchamp sat on the National Academies of Sciences Task Force that in 2010 recommended that the FDA set such guidelines. Dr. Beauchamp is available today (6/1) only to discuss the science behind the new FDA guidelines.
