Newswise — More than 100 UC San Diego Health physicians have been named as “Top Docs” in the 2018 San Diego Magazine “Physicians of Exceptional Excellence” survey, an annual opportunity for doctors across the region to vote for much-admired colleagues.

“I’m proud that UC San Diego Health physicians are so strongly represented across specialties in this years ‘Top Docs’ list,” said Christopher J. Kane, MD, CEO of UC San Diego Health Physicians and dean of clinical affairs at UC San Diego School of Medicine. “It’s an indicator of the breadth of excellence among our physicians and a terrific way to introduce patients to our services, whether primary care or a specialty.”

The full list of “Top Docs” can be found in the October issue of San Diego Magazine.

San Diego Magazine, in conjunction with the San Diego County Medical Society, works collaboratively to distribute and manage the annual survey. Voting is open to all physicians in San Diego County and participating physicians vote for one colleague within their own specialty, as well as one from outside.

“The high number of UC San Diego Health physicians on this list reflects the superb caliber of clinical work that occurs in our health system every day,” said Kane. “The fact that these doctors made the list because their colleagues voted for them showcases the quality of their care.”

Ranging from emergency medicine to surgery, from dermatology to urology, the selected physicians represent more than 45 specialties under the UC San Diego Health umbrella. Of these specialties, 13 are specific to pediatrics and highlight physicians who see patients at Rady’s Children’s Hospital-San Diego.

UC San Diego Health, the region’s only academic health system, is dedicated to delivering outstanding patient care through commitment to community, groundbreaking research and inspired teaching.
