In a new study published September 9, 2022 in Journal of Affective Disorders, researchers at University of California San Diego School of Medicine and New York University Grossman School of Medicine found that a greater number of older adults are experiencing depressive episodes, but among those with depression, mental health treatment has remained stable. The news comes amid a growing shortage of geriatric psychiatrists in the United States.
