Newswise — A Tweeter from India used technology to package his qualifications and impress the judges for the Tippie MBA’s International Tweet Competition at the University of Iowa.
Rahul Rathi, 25, from Noida, India, has five years of experience in software engineering and is currently leading teams in business and quality analysis for telecom giant AT&T.Rahul’s Tweet used a play on the word “packaging” to make him stand out from the competition:
In an age where packaging is as imp as content, I present myself in a manner that makes me stand out from the crowd. http://bit.ly/yiHp0U
The judging panel, which consisted of Tippie MBA staff from career and student services, as well as current international Tippie MBA students, liked Rahul’s entry for its creativity and effort.
“The photo slideshow was a unique way to present information, and he chose to keep it simple while communicating his points effectively. We appreciated that and the message came through loud and clear,” said one judging panel member.
Rathi will receive a full-tuition financial award to study at Tippie this fall, valued at over $36,400 per year.
Rathi is the Tippie MBA’s second Twitter scholarship winner, and the first international student. Last year, John Yates won the first Tippie domestic Twitter scholarship and he will join the Tippie Class of 2014 this fall.
About 30 percent of the international applicants who applied before April 1 elected to submit Tweet-style essays as part of their application. Submissions included links to blogs, websites, video essays, interviews, and slideshows.
The Tippie MBA Twitter scholarship competition for domestic applicants will continue accepting entries until June 30.
