New ultrasound technique averts risk of stroke from cerebral angiography
Atrium Health Wake Forest BaptistResearchers from Brazil and Canada reported today (Aug. 14) that a combination of transcranial Doppler ultrasound and duplex carotid ultrasound can accurately measure the degree of blockage in the carotid arteries that serve the brain, averting the need for cerebral angiography, a risky technique that can provoke a stroke.
