This year, the 10th Annual SLAS International Conference and Exhibition was rebranded to SLAS2021 Digital and was held entirely online due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

SLAS Discovery, one of two official journals of SLAS, welcomes Timothy Spicer, Ph.D., as a new Associate editor. Spicer joins Editor-in-Chief Robert Campbell, Ph.D., and Associate Editors Marc Bickle, Ph.D., and Kirti Sharma, Ph.D., on the editorial leadership team. Spicer has served on the SLAS Discovery Editorial Board since 2016 and is currently serving a two-year term as Secretary for the SLAS Board of Directors.
SLAS has released the first two infographics in an ongoing series of tools to help the general public better understand the technical jargon being discussed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Official press conferences, news articles, statistical reports, social media posts and health organizations use technical research terms that often are misunderstood (or not understood at all) by a general audience.

SLAS Discovery, one of two official journals of the Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening focused on developing chemical and biological tools and novel assay methods to help advance drug discovery, announced a new tagline for 2020 and beyond. “Advancing the Science of Drug Discovery” will replace “Advancing Life Sciences R&D,” as the official tagline beginning with the just-released January edition of the publication.

In the article, Li and his team describe how they combined a robotic liquid handler, an automated microscopic imaging system and real-time image-processing software for single-particle identification to create an automated platform using exclusive liquid repellency (ELR) microdrops for single-particle isolation, identification and retrieval.
