Newswise — Atlantic Health System Cancer Care today announced that fellowship-trained medical oncologist, Shilpi Gupta, MD, has joined Morristown Medical Center’s comprehensive breast health program where her focus is breast oncology and research. Dr. Gupta is on staff at Atlantic Hematology Oncology at the hospital’s Carol G. Simon Cancer Center.
“We enthusiastically welcome Dr. Gupta, an accomplished breast cancer clinician and researcher, to the Atlantic Health System Cancer Care team,” said Eric Whitman, MD, medical director, Atlantic Health System Cancer Care. “She will add her expertise and expand the capabilities of our world-class breast health program.”
An expert in breast cancer care, Dr. Gupta brings her expertise in caring for high-risk patients with known breast cancer, BRCA mutations, and suspicious mammography findings to this appointment. She guides and educates her patients about their condition, offering the latest treatments and clinical trials to her patients for the best possible outcomes.

Atlantic Health System’s multidisciplinary breast health team consists of board-certified surgeons and plastic surgeons, and physicians who specialize in medical and radiation oncology, radiology and pathology. Together, they collaborate with an experienced staff of oncology nurses, social workers, radiation therapists, registered oncology dietitians and other cancer care providers to deliver comprehensive, compassionate breast care.
In addition to expanding the breast cancer research program at Atlantic Health System Cancer Care, Dr. Gupta provides knowledge and experience across oncologic diseases, including gastrointestinal cancers and benign hematology. Prior to joining Atlantic Health System, Dr. Gupta completed her residency and fellowship at Staten Island University Hospital, Northwell Health, where she served as assistant clinical professor for the Department of Medicine. She then joined the faculty at Weill Cornell Medicine and New York-Presbyterian Hospital, continuing her commitment to excellent patient care, and taking on numerous leadership roles at both institutions. She is board certified in medical oncology and hematology.
