Three classes of U.S. states are determined based on their "change point" profiles with respect to gun violence events. The largest class of 24 does not experience a notable shift in gun violence at all during the period of study. A class of 12 states experiences a single change point late in 2021. The final class has some heterogeneity, within which seven7 states experience an up-down-up 2020 summer jump in violence.
