WASHINGTON (Jan. 29, 2020) — Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death in the U.S., according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. February is American Heart Month, which was created to remind Americans to focus on their heart health and encourage families, friends, and communities to do the same. William Borden, MD, associate professor of medicine and chief quality and population health officer, is an expert in cardiovascular disease prevention, quality of care, and health policy.

Andrew Choi, MD, assistant professor of medicine and co-director of cardiac CT and MRI, is an expert in novel methodologies, such as calcium imaging, cardiac CT and cardiac MRI that enable prevention in populations, such as young adults, risk prediction, and enhanced understanding of external factors like influenza or drugs on the heart.

Brian Choi, MD, professor of medicine, co-director of advanced cardiac imaging, and chief medical information officer, is an expert in non-invasive cardiac imaging, nuclear cardiology, and health information technology. His clinical interests include the prevention and treatment of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, and valvular heart disease.

Richard Katz, MD, Bloedorn Professor of Cardiology, director of the Division of Cardiology, and director of the GW Heart and Vascular Institute, is an expert in cardiac risk factors, heart failure, and mobile health.

Joseph Krepp, MD, assistant professor of medicine, is an expert on valvular heart disease and amyloidosis.
