CONFERENCE TO FOCUS ON INSTITUTIONAL CHANGE TO IMPROVE UNDERGRADUATE SCIENCE EDUCATION
The American Association for Higher Education (AAHE) will host a conference supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) on reform efforts in science, mathematics, engineering and technology (SMET) education in colleges and universities. NSF's Acting Deputy Director Joseph Bordogna will deliver a plenary address on November 23.
The conference, Targeting Institutional ChangeæQuality Undergraduate Science Education for All Students, will bring together teams of individuals from participating campuses to discuss best practices, collaborative relationships and an agenda to sustain future reform.
A "town meeting" style keynote panel will address securing long-term resources from local, state and national organizations to continue reform. Faith Gabelnick, President of Pacific University, will moderate. The town meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 23, from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m. in the International Ballroom East.
The conference also will feature working groups on issues such as improving student learning, motivating faculty and integrating research and education.
