Newswise — The University of Virginia Darden School of Business and the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) announce the offering of a new, manager-level education program for practicing corporate travel managers and travel industry suppliers.

The new Darden Executive Education program, available in the first quarter of 2012, will provide the latest thinking and practical tools for delivering excellent service, managing change, balancing stakeholder needs, managing risk, optimizing processes and using data to drive business decisions. The program is designed to enhance the development and management of a corporate travel program, with a curriculum focused on integrating travel effectively into the ever-more complex global business environment.

Trip Davis, president of the Darden School Foundation and senior associate dean for external relations says, “Darden Executive Education programs help prepare managers and organizations to address their most challenging issues, so our collaborative program with the GBTA should be a winner for all who attend.” In August, Davis attended the 2011 GBTA Convention in Denver, Colorado, where the new program was announced. He moderated a conference panel of industry CEOs that focused on the “Travel Value Chain.”

Darden’s top-ranked faculty and high-engagement methods will be hallmarks of the program, coupled with the GBTA’s latest insights into the travel industry and its trends. Specific dates and design elements will be available soon on the Darden and GBTA websites.

GBTA Executive Director and COO Michael W. McCormick says, "GBTA is the leader in offering educational programs, and we are committed to excellence in education and professional development. We're thrilled to announce our new partnership with the University of Virginia Darden School of Business; they are a highly regarded institution that enables us to take our educational offerings to a new level in the business travel profession."
