Newswise — It’s a holiday tradition you don’t want to miss! The annual Spelman-Morehouse Christmas Carol concert will, again, kick-off the Christmas season for metro-Atlanta residents. Mark your calendars and join the Glee Clubs for some Christmas cheer.

For more than 80 years, the Glee Clubs have come together as a gift to the Atlanta community. The combined choirs of about 100 singers will perform a mixture of new selections and traditional favorites. One of the holiday favorites featured each year is “Betelehemu,” the famous Yoruba classic performed with cymbals and bongos by the Morehouse College Glee Club and “We Are Christmas” performed by the Spelman College Glee Club and written by Kevin Johnson, DMA, chair, department of music at Spelman and Sarah Stephens, C’2007.

Each year more than 6,500 people attend the free concerts. This year the performance will be broadcast on Georgia Public Broadcasting and on the national cable outlet the Gospel Music Channel, which is carried in 45 million homes on various cable systems around the country, on DIRECTV and online through Verizon’s fiber optic service Verizon FiOS.

Each show begins at 8 p.m. and is free and open to the public!
