Lewis University Features International Business Conference
On Doing Business With Mexico and Brazil

Eliseu Padilha, Minister of Transportation of Brazil, will be the keynote speaker at an international conference on "Doing Business in/with Mexico and Brazil," to be held Thursday, Nov. 4 at Lewis University in Romeoville, Ill. He will discuss "Economic Recovery or Long Struggle Ahead?" and include updates on Mercosul and the FTAA.

Also featured will be Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for North American Affairs John Hueneman whose topic will be "Economic, Monetary and Trade Outlook of Mexico, Including a NAFTA Update."

Conference speakers include top executives and directors from United States, Mexican and Brazilian companies and agencies. The conference will address management and financial strategies, markets, barriers to doing business internationally and creative solutions to these issues.

Among the attorneys who will speak are: Miguel Noyola, partner at Baker McKenzie law firm and president of the U.S. /Mexico Chamber of Commerce; and Sebastiao Mattos, partner, Baker McKenzie.

Hosts of the conference are Lewis University, Universidade La Salle Mexico and Centro Universitario La Salle, Brazil.

United Airlines is sponsoring the event. Collaborating agencies include the U.S. Export Assistance Center, the United States - Mexico Chamber of Commerce, the International Trade Center at NORBIC, IDCCA International Business Division; International Trade Center of Greater Chicago, International Trade Center at the College of DuPage, and the NAFTA Opportunity Center at NORBIC.

Julio Cesar Picolli, chief representative, Banco do Brasil; and
Dr. Francisco Macias, director of the School of Business Administration for La Salle University in Mexico City.

Presenting a panel on "Breaking into the Mexican Market" will be Maria Sastre, Vice President of Customer Satisfaction for United Airlines; Juan Randazzo, Director of International Business, Jordan Industries; and Juan J. Rocha, General Manager for Latin America, Fiskars, Inc.

Panelists on "Breaking Through Barriers" will be Regis Cunningham, Chief Financial Officer of AGCO Do Brasil; and Susan M. Meyer, Vice President, general consul and secretary, United Stationers Supply Company.

Opening remarks at the conference will be presented by Alexandre Addor, General Consul for the Brazilian Consulate in Chicago; Heriberto M. Galindo Quinones, General Consul for the Mexican Consulate in Chicago; and Brother James Gaffney, FSC, President of Lewis University.

This is the second international conference hosted by the College of Business at Lewis University dealing with the Americas.
