Newswise — Although summer means the end of the school year for most children, that doesn't mean it's time to take a vacation from learning. "Keep your child's creative juices flowing with field trips to the library and museums around town," says Ken Haller, M.D., associate professor of pediatrics at Saint Louis University. "Make crossword puzzles in the sand, using sticks to write words. Go on a bug hunt to start a collection. Gather up rocks to play math games." The goal, he says, is to keep your child thinking and asking questions, something that lasts longer than nine months a year.
