Newswise — Irvine, Calif. – (October 7, 2014) - Michael S. Robb, recently retired executive vice president of the Real Estate Investments Group at Pacific Life Corporation, has been appointed executive director of the Center for Real Estate (CRE) at UC Irvine’s Paul Merage School of Business.

Effective upon the commencement of the 2014-15 academic year, Robb will take primary responsibility for extending the CRE’s reach into the professional community and enhancing its linkages with faculty and students. He will also participate in the teaching mission of the program and Center, where his extensive practitioner background and experience will enhance the breadth of the real estate curriculum.

“I enthusiastically look forward to assuming this challenge,” said Robb. “The increased visibility of the real estate program and Merage School’s Center for Real Estate, combined with the strong recovery of Southern California’s real estate market, provides a great opportunity to further grow and strengthen our program.”

"Mike is an extraordinary asset and an excellent addition to our Center for Real Estate,” said Kerry Vandell, Dean’s Professor of Finance and faculty director for the CRE. “Our Center has experienced tremendous growth over the last eight years, which has made the executive director position necessary and vital to our future development.” Vandell is currently on sabbatical leave, returning in mid-2015 as academic director of the CRE in primary charge of its academic research and educational missions.

Robb was formally introduced at the CRE’s Breakfast Series event held October 7 at the Pacific Club. He will also be present at the Center’s 2014 CRE Real Estate Lifetime Achievement Awards Luncheon to be held October 30 at the Island Hotel.
