RE: UW-Madison to host genocide conference
This century began with episodes of genocide against the American Indians, Armenians and, later, European Jews and Gypsies. The 1900s end with evidence of genocide in Cambodia, Rwanda, Kosovo and many other places.
Researchers from around the world, members of the Association of Genocide Scholars, will gather at the University of Wisconsin-Madison June 13-15 to exchange insights into genocide and develop strategies to combat it at their third annual conference. A highlight will be a session with the editors of the forthcoming "Encyclopedia of Genocide," the first such resource in the field of genocide studies. That session is scheduled for Tuesday, June 15 at 8 a.m.
The conference is scheduled to begin Sunday, June 13 at 3 p.m. Sessions on the following days will start at 8 a.m. All events will be held in the Pyle Center, 702 Langdon St.
