Newswise — SAVANNAH (02-Nov-10) - Georgia Tech Savannah, the Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) and FutureMedia have come together to serve as the premier Education and Technology Terabyte Sponsor for the second annual Geekend conference, November 4-6, 2010. The three organizations work in tandem as a part of the Georgia Institute of Technology with an overarching goal of improving the human condition through advanced science and technology. The Savannah campus of Georgia Tech leverages regional assets and opportunities as part of a network of global campuses and programs that educate emerging technology leaders.
Georgia Tech Savannah and ATDC were one of the first groups to believe in the idea of Geekend before the conference launched in 2009. Geekend founders recognized that the mission of the conference closely aligned with the missions of Georgia Tech Savannah and ATDC. Both organizations prioritize the need to provide educational and training opportunities that encourage innovative entrepreneurs to achieve their goals.
After serving as one of the key sponsors for the inaugural event, Georgia Tech Savannah acknowledged that Geekend was an important event for the Savannah region and wanted to help leverage this within the State of Georgia and beyond. For 2010, they added FutureMedia as part of their sponsorship. FutureMedia at Georgia Tech is a global initiative focused on discovering, creating, commercializing, and shaping the future of media.
