Newswise — Efficiency is one of the most sought after qualities in an industry. Companies work to improve efficiency within their organization through training and certification programs like Six Sigma. On May 13-17, 2013, Georgia Tech Professional Education, in collaboration with the Scheller College of Business at Georgia Tech, will provide a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Course at its Savannah Campus. This course is one of the first Lean Six Sigma courses to be offered in the region this year.

Lean Six Sigma is one of the most popular certifications in the country and teaches individuals to recognize inefficiencies within their companies and how to implement changes to save money. Practices such as streamlining communication and processes, learning Lean tools for Six Sigma, and eliminating waste are a few key points in this entry-level class.

Instructor Lee Campe is a practicing Master Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma and believes that the class is beneficial for all industries. His 15 years in industry training provides him with an in depth look into the job market and its needs. Campe has served as a Lean Six Sigma consultant for many companies such as The Home Depot, JP Morgan Chase, GE, and Johnson & Johnson, where he was responsible for driving the implementation of Six Sigma companywide.

This hands-on course provides participants with an interactive classroom setting that allows them to gain more valuable hands-on experience than many virtual programs offer. The class will cover topics including the DMAIC methodology (Define/Measure/Analyze/Improve/Control) and hypothesis testing.

The Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Course is an introductory level program and is open to all levels of experience. This course is a required first step for those in pursuit of a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification.
