Maryland To Honor Alum Jim Henson and His Muppets
WHAT: Maryland's graduating classes of 1998 and 1999 made a special gift to their university " a statue of beloved alumnus Jim Henson and his wonderful Kermit along with a garden for them to sit in. The statue, by renowned sculptor Jay Hall Carpenter, will sit outside the Stamp Student Union on campus. The University is planning a weeklong series of events surrounding the dedication of the statue including a Muppet film festival and debut of a documentary about the making of the sculpture.
WHEN: The dedication of the Jim Henson sculpture will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24 ( Jim Henson's birthday).
