Newswise — Lori Belilove & Company, resident performing company of the Isadora Duncan Foundation, will perform the West Coast premiere of their new dance theater piece, Isadora..no apologies, on Friday, April 16, 2004 at Mills College, 5000 MacArthur Blvd., Oakland, CA. The performance in Mills' Lisser Hall at 8 p.m. is open to the public.*

Ms. Belilove is a Mills alumna (BA in dance, class of 1984) and the founder of the Isadora Duncan Foundation for Contemporary Dance. She has toured worldwide, performed as the "definitive Duncan dancer," and received commissions from institutions such as the Whitney Museum of American Art.

The Lori Belilove & Company performance at Mills is offered in conjunction with a residency at the College from April 13 " 16. During the week, the Company will offer master classes for high school students, as well as an advanced master class for Mills students majoring in dance. The closing of the April 16 performance will include a debut of "Perfumes of the Night," new choreography by Ms. Belilove featuring an abstracted Isadora waltz for four women, set to a revised score of Valse Triste by Sibelius.

Lisa Jo Sagolla of Back Stage magazine described Isadora"¦no apologies as "an affecting, educational portrait of the revolutionary artist." Jack Anderson of The New York Times noted, "Through her dancing, Ms. Belilove, a Duncan authority, makes this great choreography seem eternally fresh."

Lori Belilove & Company is an all-female, spirited ensemble of New York dancers who create and perform works highlighting Isadora Duncan's repertoire. Support for the Belilove residency has been provided by the E.L. Wiegand Foundation.
