MSU Love Doctors Ready for Sweetest Day

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Students at Michigan State University refer to communication professors Steve McCornack and Kelly Morrison as the "Love Doctors." This husband and wife pair team-teach Interpersonal Relationships in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences. The class tackles infidelity, jealousy, deception, romance, and sex. What better topics for Sweetest Day?

The McCornacks use research and proven theories to debunk many of the popular myths about love and sex in books like Men are from Mars; Women are from Venus and The Rules. They share personal experiences from their marriage and past relationships to deliver insightful, fun, unique lectures.

"Much of what John Gray and the 'rules girls' try to tell us about relationships between men and women is simply false," says McCornack. "They sell stereotypes that just aren't true."

McCornack and Morrison have received such a positive response from students that their class sizes have expanded to 430 students per section. Students say the McCornack's class is one of the most original they've ever taken.

The difference between McCornack and Morrison and today's pop pundits like John Gray is the research.

"Most pop pundits base their claims on the anecdotal tales of a handful of people," says Morrison. "We deal in empirical evidence from thousands of subjects."
