Newswise — The American Academy of Otolaryngology " Head and Neck Surgery Foundation (AAO-HNSF) has named Mary Pat Cornett, CMP, as Director of Meetings and Exhibits for the association. In her new position, Cornett will oversee several major meetings for AAO-HNSF, including their annual meeting, which is attended by more than 8,000 physicians and medical professionals.

"Mary Pat has been in the trenches of meeting planning for over two decades and the leadership and wealth of experience she brings will advance our most prestigious event " our annual meeting " and help us continue to grow as an organization," said AAO-HNSF Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer David R. Nielsen, MD. "Mary Pat brings with her the respect of her professional colleagues, a reputation of excellence, and fresh perspective to stimulate innovation and deliver high quality meetings."

Cornett said one appealing aspect of the position was AAO-HNSF's annual meeting. "I view the Academy as a prestigious professional society with a great annual meeting. I thrive in an environment of collaboration and challenge and I'm excited about this opportunity to work with such a great group of people."

Cornett brings to the AAO-HNSF more than 24 years of meeting management experience, including six years with the American Diabetes Association (ADA). Cornett received accolades for developing and managing ADA's meetings, conventions, and travel needs, some of them hosting over 17,000 participants. In addition to her time with ADA, Cornett managed meetings for the American Society of Training and Development, and the Fertilizer Institute. In 1986, Cornett was a government appointee to the White House Conference on Productivity.
