Bucknell E-Commerce Leaders to Convene on Campus

LEWISBURG, Pa., Oct.4 -- Richard Johnson, president and CEO of HotJobs.com, and some 40 other Bucknell alumni, parents and friends who are in the forefront of the New Economy will participate in a symposium, "e-leaders@Bucknell" Oct. 12-13 on the university campus.

Johnson, a 1984 Bucknell graduate, gained national attention when he gambled half his company's 1998 earnings, $2 million, to advertise during the 1999 Super Bowl. He will speak at a 6:30 p.m. dinner meeting Friday, Oct. 13.

Doug Lebda, founder and CEO of Lending Tree, will speak Friday at 3 p.m. on "Idea to IPO." Lending Tree is an Internet-based loan marketplace for consumers and lenders. He will also participate in a panel discussion on Bucknell's widely copied Management 101 class at 9:55 a.m. Friday. A 1992 Bucknell graduate, Lebda is an alumnus of the MG101, during which students form and manage companies to sell actual products.

Other featured alumni speakers include Glen Tullman, CEO of Allscripts, a 1981 graduate; Charles Berger, chairman and CEO of AdForce, a 1975 graduate; and Ann Brackbill, senior vice president of America Online Inc., and a 1982 graduate.

Allscripts provides point-of-care medication management and productivity enhancing solutions for physician practices and managed care payers and plans. The company's TouchScript software provides electronic prescribing and uses the Internet to route transactions to pharmacies and managed care organizations. AdForce is an online provider of centralized, outsourced ad management and delivery services. AOL is a world leader in interactive services, Web brands, Internet technologies and e-commerce services.

Tullman will speak on "Fire and the Internet Transformation." Brackbill's speech is titled, "The Internet: It's About Consumers."

Panel topics include "Careers in the New Economy," "Venture Capital," "B2B (business to business)," "E-Media," "The IPO," "Universities in the digital World," "Emerging Technology" and "Marketing/Branding." Representatives of Andersen Consulting and General Electric, co-sponsors of the symposium, will also make presentations.
