Newswise — Glassboro, N.J.—U.S. Senate candidates Cory Booker and Steve Lonegan will participate in a televised debate in southern New Jersey on the campus of Rowan University on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 7 p.m. The debate will be televised live throughout New Jersey and the greater Philadelphia and New York City metro areas on NBC10 Philadelphia / WCAU, NBC 4 New York / WNBC, the Comcast Network and Telemundo Philadelphia / WWSI. The program also will be available through XFINITY On Demand and will be rebroadcast on Telemundo Nueva York / WNJU on a date to be determined. The debate will be moderated by NBC10 Philadelphia anchor Jim Rosenfield, with a panel that will include NBC 4 New York anchor David Ushery and The Philadelphia Inquirer Washington Correspondent Jonathan Tamari. The two candidates won the support of their respective parties at an Aug. 13 primary election and have since been feverishly campaigning around the state to build support for the Oct. 16 special election that will fill the unexpired term of the late Democratic senator, Frank Lautenberg. “I believe the candidates accepted the invitation to come to South Jersey in part because of the strong proposal we put forth with NBC and the Philadelphia Inquirer,” said Dr. Ali Houshmand, president of Rowan University. “The location also shows their commitment to South Jersey and how they value the opinions of those who live and work here.” Philly.com and NBC10.com will stream the debate live and give viewers the opportunity to submit questions to the panelists and share in a discussion prior to and during the debate. Guests in the audience will submit questions as they enter the auditorium. Rowan will make a limited number of tickets available to the public a week before the debate. ###
